These terms apply when you buy an original artwork through Tuhfa. By placing an order, you accept them.
Tuhfa is operated by Filthy Good Tech., at our studio in Cairo, Egypt. You can reach us at hello@filthygood.co or WhatsApp.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it.
Tuhfa is a marketplace for original artworks by Egyptian artists.
The artwork is created and owned by the artist. Tuhfa lists it, holds and processes your payment, takes physical custody of the piece before it ships, packs it, arranges delivery, and handles everything to do with your order from start to finish.
In practice, we are the party you deal with. If something goes wrong with your order, you contact us, not the artist.
You must be at least 18 years old to buy through Tuhfa.
When you place an order, you are making an offer to buy. Your order is accepted, and a contract formed, when we confirm it to you in writing. If we cannot fulfil an order, for example because the piece has already sold elsewhere, we will tell you promptly and refund you in full.
Every piece on Tuhfa is unique. Once a work is sold it cannot be replaced with an identical one. If a listing turns out to be unavailable, your only remedy is a full refund.
Artists describe their own work. We review listings, but we rely on the artist for details such as medium, dimensions, and year, and we require those details to be accurate.
Colour and texture on a screen are never exact. Screens vary, and photography cannot fully reproduce surface, depth, or scale. Reasonable variation between the images shown and the piece you receive is normal and is not grounds for a return on the basis of misdescription. A material difference is grounds for a return: a different medium, substantially different dimensions, or a work that is not what the listing said it was.
Where dimensions are given, they refer to the artwork itself. Framing is only included where the listing says so.
All prices are shown in Egyptian Pounds and, unless stated otherwise, exclude delivery. Delivery is calculated and shown to you before you confirm your order.
We accept the payment methods shown at checkout, which currently include card payment through our payment provider, bank transfer or Instapay, and, for eligible orders, cash on delivery.
Card and transfer payments. Your payment is received and held by Tuhfa. It is not released to the artist until your order has been delivered and the inspection window described in section 8 has closed. This is what allows us to refund you directly if something goes wrong.
Cash on delivery. Where available, you pay the courier at the point of delivery. Because no payment is held in advance, the protections in these terms operate as a refund after the fact rather than as a payment we are still holding. Cash on delivery may not be offered on all pieces, and we may decline it at our discretion.
We are not responsible for fees charged by your own bank or card issuer.
We currently deliver within Egypt. Delivery outside Egypt may be offered in future, and where it is, additional terms including customs, duties, and import charges will apply and will be shown to you before you order.
Delivery timescales are shown at checkout and are estimates, not guarantees. Original artwork is prepared individually and is not dispatched from stock.
We choose the delivery method according to the value, size, and fragility of the piece. Higher-value works are delivered by private vehicle or by a member of the Tuhfa team in person. We do not transport original artwork by motorcycle or bicycle in any circumstances.
You must provide an accurate delivery address and be available, or have someone available, to receive the piece. Artwork is not left unattended. If delivery fails because nobody is available or the address was wrong, we may charge you for a further delivery attempt.
Please make sure the piece can physically reach its destination. Narrow staircases, small lifts, and restricted building access are your responsibility to check before ordering, particularly for large works.
The artwork remains at our risk until it is delivered to you. From the moment of delivery, risk passes to you.
Ownership of the artwork passes to you once we have received payment in full and the piece has been delivered.
After delivery, you have a short inspection window, the exact length of which is shown at checkout and on your order confirmation, during which you may examine the piece and raise any issue with us.
Once that window closes without an issue being raised, the sale is final.
Please keep the original packaging until the window has closed. If you need to return a piece, it has to travel back in it.
If the piece arrives damaged, or is materially different from its listing, contact us within the inspection window with photographs. We will refund you in full, including the delivery charge you paid, and we will arrange and pay for collection. You are not charged anything.
If you simply change your mind, you may return the piece within the inspection window provided it is unused, undamaged, unhung, and returned in its original packaging. In this case:
After the inspection window closes, change-of-mind returns are not accepted. The piece is unique, it has left our custody, and the sale is complete.
Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights under Egyptian consumer protection law.
Refunds are issued to the original payment method wherever possible. Cash on delivery orders are refunded by bank transfer or Instapay to an account in your name.
We process refunds promptly once a returned piece has arrived back with us and been inspected, or immediately in cases of loss or damage in transit. Your bank or card provider may take additional time to make the funds available to you.
If a returned piece arrives back with us damaged, or not in its original packaging, we may reduce your refund to reflect the loss in value.
Every piece sold through Tuhfa is an original work, made by the artist named in the listing, and ships with a certificate of authenticity signed by that artist.
If a work sold through Tuhfa is ever shown not to be authentic, not original, or not by the named artist, we will refund you in full and arrange collection at our cost. This applies regardless of how much time has passed. A guarantee of authenticity with an expiry date would not be a guarantee.
Buying an artwork gives you the physical piece. It does not give you the copyright in it.
The artist retains copyright in their work. You may display the piece in your home or premises, photograph it for personal use, and resell or gift the physical object. You may not reproduce it commercially, make or sell prints or copies, or use images of it to promote a business, without the artist's written permission.
The artist and Tuhfa may continue to use images of the work, including in portfolios, on the site, and in marketing. We will not identify you as the owner or disclose your address without your consent.
You are responsible for keeping your account details secure and for the accuracy of the information you give us.
Communication between collectors and artists takes place through Tuhfa. Please do not attempt to arrange a purchase off-platform to avoid our involvement. It removes every protection in these terms, including escrow, authenticity, and returns.
We may refuse or cancel an order, or close an account, where we reasonably suspect fraud, abuse, or misuse of the site.
We collect and use your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. We share your name, address, and contact number with our delivery partners only as needed to deliver your order, and we do not share your contact details with artists without your consent.
We take the condition and safe delivery of every piece seriously, and we accept responsibility for loss or damage while the artwork is in our custody or in transit.
We are not responsible for damage occurring after delivery, including from hanging, handling, cleaning, humidity, or direct sunlight. Care guidance is included in the box.
Except where the law does not allow us to limit it, our liability in connection with an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.
If something goes wrong, contact us first. Most issues are resolved quickly and directly.
These terms are governed by Egyptian law, and the courts of Egypt have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
