Story behind the piece
infected is an original figurative sculpture that was part of a bigger project called UTOPIA
Utopia is a sculptural exploration of the paradox within the human pursuit of an ideal world.
Infected explores the moment when the pursuit of an ideal is no longer simply an external aspiration, but becomes embedded within the individual.
The figure appears human and intact from the outside, yet its distorted form suggests that something has already begun to consume it from within.
The work considers how an idea — particularly the belief in an absolute or perfect state of existence — can become internalized to the point where it changes the way we perceive ourselves and the world around us.
The "infection" is therefore not physical in a literal sense. It represents a distorted belief that gradually takes over the individual, turning the pursuit of perfection into a source of internal fragmentation.
Within the project, Infected marks the transition from desiring the ideal to being consumed by it.
