Deformed is an original figurative sculpture that was part of a bigger project called UTOPIA . Utopia is a sculptural exploration of the paradox within the human pursuit of an ideal world. explores the gradual departure of the human figure from its natural state. As the pursuit of an impossible ideal continues, the body begins to lose its familiar proportions. The elongated and distorted anatomy suggests a human being attempting to adapt itself to something it was never meant to become. The deformation is no longer entirely internal. It begins to manifest physically. The work questions the cost of constantly reshaping ourselves according to an imagined standard of perfection — and what happens when the desire to become "better" ultimately takes us further away from ourselves.
