Acrylic on Canvas
This painting shows the contrast between the traditional image of the Egyptian women and the realities of modern expectations. The stacked objects reflect that she has to carry everything that is expected from her, with the added pressures of the modern world; being a mother, cooking and learning all at once while being committed to the social expectations and cultural norms. She moves between what she has been taught to be like and what she is learning about herself. It reflects how these expectations evolve but never actually disappear.
