Anybody that knows my personally knows how much I admire and cherish where I live, I have been living all my life in Manial - المنيل and as we grew together over these past 23 years we have went through changed & changes only to wake up one day and realize its now time for its turn to go through ‘’Urban Development’’ , while I was in complete disbelief at first bit by bit it was sinking in they are taking away a part of myself and I couldn’t even grief it as It wasn’t just me, thousands and thousands of people lose themselves to pass by ‘’الممر’’ - The passage as its the only way to get across Manila, how ironic the most lively street literally the road out of the island is blocked just because.
Im almost fascinated by it, for better or worse its the only thing protecting ‘’urban development’’ and holding thousands of people daily in, crammed hugging every single of them with a small prize in the middle (a chance to cross the street) as if you get a reward for cramming yourself in ironically I have to pass by it every time Im leaving/entering Manial as if you know you have to put yourself through it all just to get home, it won’t matter how much you bang it or no matter how many people want to pass in the same time its edges cut through the street just to mark its territory
Its been almost four months of the passage now, and almost everyday I have to pass by it and even though the helpless faces can’t help even just to get some bread they pass and go all day with the only constant being these thick metal rails holding everybody in
Obviously this isn’t something new, quite the contrary especially these past couple of years its urban development here urban development there, millions and millions of identities and millions of pieces of people all uncaged by some asphalt but for some reason I thought I was immune only to find its quite the contrary with me counting the days (5-7 years) but I wonder if its gonna be too late then if possible to reconcile the changed both (and millions of people) went through
